Transcend Oceania’s JustPeace Talanoa Bure @COVID19 continues as Community and Civil Society leaders alike converged at the Radisson Blu Resort, Denarau Island, Fiji from the 7th – 10th of July. At a crucial time in Fiji, it is an opportune time for these leaders to deliberate on issues faced in both rural and urban community settings. Some of these issues include climate change, loss of employment due to COVID 19, women’s participation and inclusion, equality, leadership, impacts of TC Harold, accessibility, inclusivity and capacity building. In the Talanoa this week are leaders from the provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua, Macuata, Nadroga and Ba, including representatives from People Living with Disability (PLWD) and  LGBTQI.

In providing a visibility space for dialogue, Transcend Oceania believes that peaceful interventions are critical at this time. The participants shared their experiences on issues related to human security, human rights, economic development,  and types of injustices experienced at the community level.
